Sheila was my friend for 60 years. We met as teenagers and were very close. She was a bridesmaid at my wedding and I should have been hers but I was too pregnant at the time. I moved away from Southampton so we kept in touch by phone or letters, but when we did meet we took up our conversation as if we had parted only moments ago.
